Escotele: Giving telecom retail and distribution distinct operational controls

An Odoo transformation designed around the different financial and stock requirements of telecom retail, distribution and service sales in Saudi Arabia.

TDS + Odoo

Channel-specific control

Industry transformation case study

The client & the challenge

Start with the business.

Escotele distributes telecom and consumer-electronics products in Saudi Arabia. Its business combines warehouse distribution, branch retail and service-based B2B activity, each with different transaction and reporting needs.

One sales process cannot accurately represent every channel. Physical goods require stock control; selected units require serial tracking; retail shops require their own warehouse and financial settings; and administrative service sales must not create unintended stock movements.

The solution at a glance

Different channels. Deliberate controls.

Illustration of the documented solution scope and intended business value.

01

Receive and distribute

Route goods from the main warehouse to branches, with serial tracking where required.

02

Control shop transactions

Link each shop to its source warehouse and configured cash and payable accounts.

03

Separate service sales

Use a dedicated administrative B2B workflow for service items without stock impact.

04

Connect financial analysis

Bring core purchasing, inventory, sales and accounting together with cost-centre reporting.

The TDS approach

DIS, TDS’s Saudi team, translated Escotele’s channel requirements into a differentiated Odoo design. The April 2026 blueprint specifies a custom retail workflow that checks availability before posting and deducts quantities from the assigned shop warehouse. It distinguishes quantity-only retail stock groups from valued inventory. A separate custom B2B module tracks service activity without posting to inventory or accounting.

Business value first

What the design makes possible

01 · Business control

Know which shop owns the transaction

Shop configuration establishes the warehouse and financial accounts used by retail transactions. This makes branch-level responsibility part of the transaction design.

02 · Business control

Protect stock accuracy

Availability checks prevent posting a retail transaction without sufficient stock. Warehouse transfers and selected serial tracking preserve the route of physical goods.

03 · Business control

Avoid misleading financial effects

The design treats valued inventory, quantity-only retail groups and administrative service sales differently. That distinction matters when management needs figures that reflect the underlying business.

Scope and outcomes

Delivery records document implemented core modules and integration at client-testing stage. The April 2026 blueprint defines the channel-specific design described here, and the project remains listed in the active-project archive. Full programme completion and quantified savings are not claimed.

What makes this case special

Industry knowledge, expressed in the workflow.

Escotele shows why telecom distribution needs more than a standard module list. TDS’s contribution is the modelling of branch responsibility, physical stock and service activity as distinct workflows, with the appropriate controls for each.
